Gail W. Engel, age 64, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and close friends, December 5, 2010, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born February 18, 1946, in San Antonio to Houston and Helen Wheeler. 
 
She was an honorary member of the Greensboro, GA Rotary Club and a member of many educational and professional organizations.
 
Gail loved life, especially time spent with her grandson Xander, and also loved spending time in Costa Rica with her husband and their special friends. They purchased a home there ten years ago and vacationed there as often as possible. 
 
She loved swimming, fishing, playing cards and dominos with her close friends who she cherished. 
 
She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Lance Engel, mother, Helen Wheeler, and brother, Houston Wheeler. 
 
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Earl Engel; daughter-in-law, Christy Engel; grandson, Xander Engel; father, Houston Wheeler; sister, Meredith Wheeler and partner Squeeky Luce; caregivers, Estela C. Rodriguez and Eva G. Rodriguez; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and former students; and her beloved canine companion Gritz.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2010 AT
11:00 A.M. AT
ALAMO HEIGHTS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CHAPEL
825 E. BASSE RD.
 
Pastor Donna Strieb (AHHS '64) officiated.
