I JUST found out about this site...from my dear friend Kitty Mansell Merritt!
So sorry to see how many dear ones we have lost. Hard to believe! So, I just want to say to all who click on this that I learned a LOT about life from many of you! It was a hard time for me since we moved to Texas when I was 13 leaving friends and family behind. Some of you were so kind and open to me. I appreciate that. I remember each of you who received me with open arms by name! I would love to be able to let you know that.

School Story:

I went to every school in town at the time...went to Austin...married (66)...quit school...moved back to SA... had a baby (68)...went back to school and got my degree in English (which means I can read!)...had 2nd daughter in 72. My marriage failed in 88 and I went to work. In the 90's I started a small landscape design co. Had to quit due to back problems AND employee problems...not necessarily in that order! Moved out of 09 13 years ago and live near Mac Arthur Hi. Just turned 70...have silver hair...natural...spend as much time as possible with 13 yr. old grand daughter, Karma! Rescue animals, vegetarian, getting over some health issues and generally just damn glad to STILL be here!

Just LOOK at that SMILE!!!! The hairstyle has changed but the smile is the same one she had at 16!!!! I REALLY missed something by not knowing her well!!!

CHARLES!!! THANK YOU so much for relating this story to us!! History has touched us all to some extent. We must NEVER forget our service people! What they did and continue to do is nothing short of heroic!!!! Even sitting at a desk is heroic! EVERYTHING that keeps this country free IS HEROIC!! Just looking at Cissy's face you would think she "had it made!"' Fact is, no one does!!! As Henri Nouwen said we are all "walking wounded."   I'm glad Cindy was able to keep smiling. Her light means even MORE knowing these things about her. She did NOT let her sorrows in life become "wasted tragedies." There is an enormous lesson there!!! I don't think her light will EVER go out...

i thank you all, as well, for writing more about Cissy! The sweetness I saw in school was there her whole life! What a joy to know!!

I took a moment to read through the names of all who have embarked on their continuing adventure. Oh we have lost some very precious people from this realm! We knew each other at 17; now we're 70!!! Some days dragged on; but the years flew by...

Thank you, Henry, for your service in "our" war. Forgive us for not learning YET that war is NEVER the answer...regardless of the question. My prayers go out to your family. There is one more angel watching over us.
