After having a mean Mother, whom many of you will remember, I finally figured out who I was in my early-30’s. Since then, life has been fantastic. Living in Dallas, I started a publishing consulting company for medical associations, and eventually hired 10 employees. It was so much fun running my own company! Then I divorced my first (“practice”) husband, and at age 40, moved to Denver. I met my current husband, and life got better still. I closed down my company, and at age 50, Bill & I sold our house in Colorado, put everything in storage, and went to Europe for a year…renting houses and living in the villages. The following year we bought a piece of land on a bluff overlooking the Sea of Cortez in San Jose del Cabo, Baja, Mexico (outside of Cabo San Lucas), built a house on it, and lived there for 4 years. We returned to Denver in 2001, and love our life here, with our friends and Bill’s son. We love to travel and have visited almost 100 countries. I stay active with walking, hiking, gardening, bridge, Mah Jongg, Book Club, chairing neighborhood organizations, and trading the stock market. No grandkids in Denver… yet!…but have 2 in Minneapolis (where Bill is from) whom we see a few times a year. We are now splitting our time between Denver (summer) and Tucson (winter). I want to learn how to play Pickle Ball (like tennis for old people), take better photos, and learn how to #*%?#* get along with my computer!!! Still lots to do in this jolly life!!!
Update 08/17/2015, prior to becoming 70 years old... Gee!!! How can we all be this old? Isn't 70 the new 50? i hope so!!!
We have sold our Denver home and are moving full-time to Tucson in two months. The hassle of going back and forth gets to be too much (getting old??) and Tucson is lovely. We'll travel during the hot months. I'm looking forward to being there full time and being able to participate in some volunteer activities, specifically Tucson Troop Support. Our kids and grandkids are in Minneapolis, and believe me, we're NOT moving there. A pool in the back yard in Tucson will take care of luring visiting grandkids during the winter!!
Happy 70th to us ALL!!!!
I've been reading many stories of our classmates visiting various places in Colorado, and loving them. I have been so lucky to have lived here for about 30 years, and have traveled the whole state, many times. It is indeed beautiful. The summers are spectacular, the Fall is heaven and colorful, and the winters are magical. We like to keep, our winters a secret...they are very mild...snow sublimates, into the atmosphere in a day, the sun comes out, and we're running around in light-weight jackets the next day. It's actually HOT at 50 degrees! Spring (March thru May) is miserable....cold, wet, windy, no flowers, etc.
So, with a sad heart, Bill and I are moving to our home in Tucson permanently. We are just tired of going back and forth, and I'd like to avoid snow at this time in my life. I also can breathe better there. Tucson is a neat little town, with lots of culture, scenery, and activities. It's kind of a surprise. We like the dry climate, no bugs, and mild winters. We're big travelers, so we'll do that in the summer.
All you classmates, keep coming to Colorado. I know you'll enjoy it as we have.
